JAC decides indefinite strike against Cement Plants from Thursday
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Jaintia Hills Truck Owner Association (JHTOA), All Jaintia Hills Clinkers and Cement Association (AJHCCA) and Meghalaya Truckers Union (MTU) held its General Meeting on Monday at Phramer, West Jaintia Hills to pressurize the cement plants for paying new rates of transportation to the transporters.
The members with one voice resolved to hold Indefinite Strike against the cement plants for non- implementation of the Revised fare rate on the trucks load as per the order given by the Meghalaya Transport Department.
The State Government on the 25th September, 2020 announced new freight rate vide Notification NO.TPT.91/80/813 for heavy and medium goods vehicles. On black top road the minimum rate is Rs 7 per MT per KM and maximum is Rs 11 per MT per Kilometre, Rs 8 to Rs 12 per Metric Ton per Kilometre on graveled road and Rs 10 to Rs 14 per MT per kilometre for Kutcha road.
The Indefinite Strike of JAC aim to stop the transportation of cement and clinkers by cement plants till they implement the new revised fare rate.
Notably, the Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills District issued an order on the 25th October 2020 through the letter EJHD/GEN/TRAN-4/Vol-IV/2019/169 directing the cement factories to implement the price rate on the trucks loads.
