Jaintia group wants legislation of Reservation Policy & 80% open reservation
The Jaintia Coordination Committee on Reservation Policy (JCCRP) has demanded the legislation of “the Meghalaya State Reservation Policy into a Statute where employment as well as education opportunities should be clearly defined.”
The JCCRP put up the proposal in the representation submitted to the Secretary of the Expert on Reservation Policy in Shillong on Friday.
The JCCRP has proposed an 80 percent open reservation policy to be compete amongst the three major tribes of the state namely Garo and Khasi Jaintia.
The JCCRP reasoned out that the proposal will create a more inclusive yet competitive environment, encouraging the selection of the best candidates based on their merit and qualifications.
“By adopting this revised approach, we believe that our state can achieve greater administrative efficiency and improve the quality of public services. This change will also foster a culture of excellence and meritocracy, benefiting the state and its citizens in the long run,” said the JCCRP in their five page representation.
