Jaintia Hills Truck Owners’ Association ends protest as cement cos allocate 40 trucks per day
The Jaintia Hills Truck Owners’ Association (JHTOA) has called off their indefinite protest after the Jaintia Hills Cement Manufacturers Association in East Jaintia Hills agreed to allocate 40 trucks per day for the loading of cement and clinker from the cement factories.
This decision was taken on Monday during a meeting attended by leaders of JHTOA, the East Jaintia Hills Truck Owners and Transporters Association (EJHTOTA), as well as the president and secretary of the Jaintia Hills Cement Manufacturing Association (JHCMA). The meeting was convened by the East Jaintia Hills District Administration.
JHTOA president Biangshwa Shylla, informed that such an arrangement has been made for one month. During the meeting, it was decided that the district administration will monitor and allocate an equal number of trucks each day to load from the cement companies to both JHTOA and EJHTOTA.
It may be mentioned that JHTOA had announced an indefinite protest starting on October 5th at Tuber Tahkhniang as the cement factories in Lumshnong, Wahiajer, and Thangskai did not adhere to the agreement with JHTOA regarding the transportation of cement and clinker.
