JHADC affected as staff cease work
Functioning of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) was affected on Thursday due to the indefinite strike by over 1,800 employees.
The strike was called by the JHADC Staff Association to protest against the Council’s failure to release the salary of the employees for the past many months.
The JHADC wore a deserted look with only a few MDCs attending work.
JHADC-SA president Johnson Pohrmen said that the association was compelled to take such an extreme decision due to non-release of the salary pending for more than seven months.
He said that the executive committee led by Thombor Shiwat has decided to release only one month’s salary today after coming to know about the decision of the employees.
“However, we have decided to reject any invitation by the executive committee for discussion on this issue as we do not want to fall for their false promises again and again,” Pohrmen said.
