Jirang MLA the blue eye boy of the National People’s Party

SHILLONG: First time legislator from Jirang Assembly Constituency Sosthenes Sohtun is perhaps the blue eye boy of the National People Party (NPP) amongst all other MLAs in the NPP lead Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA)’s Government.

This came to light in the invitation card published by the Office of Syiem Jirang for the Amkyrbai Poshan Festival to be held at Jirang Community Reserve and Amkyrbai Lake Jiang on 30 & 31 October, 2019.

According to the invitation card, the chief guest for the opening ceremony is Fisheries Minister Comingone Ymbon while on the closing ceremony the chief guest is Meghalaya State Planning Board Chairman Lambor Malngiang while the guest of honour is Sosthenes Sohtun who is shown in the card as Chairman of Meghalaya Handloom & Handicraft Corporation and Co Chairman Meghalaya Forest Development Corporation.

Meanwhile, the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA)’s government has appointed R M Shabong as the Vice Chairman of Mawmluh Cherra Cements Limited (MCCL).

According to a notification issued on 28^th August, 2019 vide no. IND.57/2018/21, the State Governor appointed Shabong as Vice Chairman of MCCL under category “B” with perks and facilities regulated as per Finance (AF) Department’s O.M.

Meanwhile, the MDA’s Government also appointed another vice chairman in the Meghalaya Resource and Employment Generation Council which is headed by UDP MLA of Ranikor Assembly Constituency Pius Marwein as Chairman. There are two Co Chairmen namely former MLA Nimarson Momin and Semford B Sangma and Manbha Rani as deputy chairman.

The vice chairmen of the Council are E D Marak, NPP East Khasi Hills General Secretary Aibor Tynsng and Ryntathiang.

According to notification issued on 16^th August, 2019 vide no. PLA.88/2003/Pt. l/23, the Governor appointed Bhaboklang Ryntathiang, as Vice Chairman, Meghalaya Resource and Employment Generation Council under category B’ with perks and facilities.
