Joint efforts of Community & Govt emphasized to tackle child trafficking
A One Day District Level Sensitization programme on ‘Combating Child Trafficking’ on the occasion of World Day Against Human Trafficking was held on Thursday in the Office of the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong.
The workshop was organised by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights along with Meghalaya State Commission for Protection of Child Right and District Administration.
Iamon M. Syiem, Chairperson (MSCPCR) spoke at length about the need of all officials and community at large to work together for addressing the problem of child trafficking and awareness on child rights.
Shaista K. Shah, Senior Technical Expert, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights gave a presentation and delivered lecture on ‘Combating Child Trafficking.
R.Manners, MCS, ADC and Smti. D. Kharshiing, MCS, ADC represented the District Administration.
Participants included the members of Juvenile Justice Board, Child Welfare Committee, Officer from the Special Juvenile Police Unit, Police Department, Officers from the Border Security Force, Officers and Staff from District Child Protection Unit, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong.
