Jowai College offers free workshop on English (Honours)
The Department of English, Thomas Jones Synod College on Thursday announced that it will be organizing a workshop/ bridge course on ‘The Essence and Salient Features of the Honours Course in English’.
This workshop is designed for students awaiting their Class XII Board’s Results (Arts / Science / Commerce) and who wish to opt for the 3- Year Honours course in English under the semester system.
This workshop will prepare students for admission into the Honours course in English which will take place after the declaration of the Board’s results.
Topics to be dealt with include:
How to study poems | How to study novels |
How to study plays | How to study literary theory and criticism |
The use of images and symbols | The history of English Literature |
What critical analysis means | The importance of history and facts |
Phonetic Transcription | What is ‘reference to the context’? |
Understanding the use of literary terms | The difference between objectivity and subjectivity |
Career prospects and much more |
As per the official statement from the college, students who wish to have a better understanding of literature and find out if English literature is suitable for them are encouraged to join us for the workshop.
Registration will be required. There are only 150 (one hundred and fifty) seats available. The last date for registration is on the 18th May 2022 (Wednesday). The workshop is free of cost and participants will also receive a certificate.
