Jowai MLA has failed to resolve issue of garbage

Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla and the District Administration, West Jaintia Hills District has failed to resolve the issue of garbage in Jowai Town, according to prominent citizen of Jowai Town OR Shallam.

In a letter to Chief Minister, Shallam complained that is it justified and fair that the State will soon be celebrating its 50th statehood day, while the people of Jowai town are facing hue and cry out of the garbage and waste piling the nook and corner of the town suburb as well as the resident’s houses causing foul, malodorous and disgusting smell leading to health hazards inspite of the ongoing pandemic.

He also said Iawmusiang market being the core location of the town is being filled with tons and tons of endless garbage being dumped by traders and vendors hailing from different parts of the region who make their living from the market of which in turn the popular Iawmusiang market turned into a messy dumping ground. The District administration and the Local MLA has showed severe incompetence’s and failure to tackle the issue, thus victimising the residents to the utmost inconveniences. Non development of the proper and scientific waste management plant led the town and the district to face the ultimate consequences.
