JSM demands immediate repairs of the NH-6 from Mookyndur to Thadlaskein
JOWAI: Taking strong cognizance of the difficulties faced by the commuters and the impending threats to the life of the people, the Jaintia Students Movement Central Body today demand from the office of the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District to take up with the State Government for ordering the immediate repair of the National Highway No. 6 from Mookyndur to Thadlaskein on a war footing as to ease the suffering of the people at the earliest failing which we will be compel to resort to other course of actions.
In a memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, the JSM said the only connectivity between State of Meghalaya and the rest of the Country is the road connectivity and along Jaintia Hills region it is covered under the National Highway No.6 to Assam, Tripura and Mizoram.
However, it is a matter of grave concern to observe that the road conditions of the said National Highway from Mookyndur Village under Nartiang Assembly Constituency (till the border of West Jaintia Hills District and East Khasi Hills District) till Thadlaskein under Nartiang Assembly Constituency is in a stage of highly deplorable conditions.
“We have observed that there several potholes all along the National Highway in the above stretch of roads posing an impending threat to the life and safety of the commuters. And due to the deplorable conditions of the roads, several trucks broke down resulting in traffic jams for hours,” said the upcoming student body from Jaintia Hills region.
