JSU demands action against illegal erection of temple at Lakroh village
The Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) on Tuesday demanded the district administration of West Jaintia Hills to take action against the alleged illegal erection of a temple at Lakroh village.
In a complaint lodged with the DC of West Jaintia Hills, president of the JSU Syndai Unit Pynshailang Suliang said, “We…respectfully request your intervention regarding the illegal erection of a temple at Lakroh village. This construction has occurred without the consent of the village heads and the committee.”
He informed that in March this year, the village committee and headman approached us concerning this issue, highlighting that non-tribal individuals have forcefully erected temples without following established protocols or obtaining permission from the village authorities.
“This situation has raised concerns about potential communal conflicts within our community. We kindly urge your office to take appropriate action to address this matter and prevent any escalation. Stopping these illegal constructions will help maintain peace and respect for community sentiments,” Suliang stated in the letter.
