JSU demands govt to provide accommodation to 108 workers
The Jaintia Students Union (JSU) has demanded the state government to provide accommodation to field staff of the GVK EMRI 108 in the different districts.
In a letter to the Director of Health and Services (MI) Dr Aman War, JSU president Lawyerson War said, “We urge you to urgently look into their matter and provide a proper facility and accommodation in order to safeguard their health and take precautionary measures.”

He said in view of the COVID-19 outbreak, the field staffs who directly and indirectly come in contact with the patient face a lot of problems and insecurity after completion of their duties.

The JSU president said that the union was informed that the EMRI Workers’ Union had verbally appealed to all the DMHO for an arrangement of accommodations yet no positive response has been taken from the authority level and except for Shillong where accommodation is provided at Monsoon hotel.
