JSU demands govt to upgrade PWD office at Amlarem

The Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) War Jaintia Circle has demanded the state government to upgrade the PWD sub-divisional office to a divisional office at Amlarem.

The JSU-WJC in a statement said that the Amlarem civil sub-division was established on November 12, 1976 and is looking after areas along the Indo-Bangla border.

“It is high time for the government to consider upgrading this important office to a divisional office to bring administration much closer to the people,” the Union said.

According to the JSU-WJC, the PWD South Division which is looking after areas under the Amlarem civil sub-division, is located at Jowai, the district headquarters of West Jaintia Hills. 

This has caused a lot of inconveniences to the public especially those coming from far flung villages along the international border, it added.
