Justice delivered to minor girl after 8 long years of wait
It took nearly eight long years of wait for justice to be delivered to a minor girl as her rapist was convicted for the henious crime committed against her and sentence to a decade long rigorous imprisonment.
According to police, on 08th November 2014, an information was received at Tura Women PS that King Victor Ch. Marak @ Tengchu has sexually assaulted a minor girl in his residence.
On receipt of information, a case was immediately registered vide Tura Women PS Case No. 58(11)2014 u/s 376(2)(i) IPC R/W Sec. 5(m)/6 POCSO Act, 2012.
The investigation carried out by WPI Gorethy T. Sangma was done meticulously and the chargesheet was submitted on 1st August 2017.
After completion of trial, the Court of Special Judge (POCSO), West Garo Hills, Tura found the accused person guilty and convicted him under Section 376(2) IPC R/W Sec. 6 of POCSO Act, 2012.
Subsequent to the judgment, the Court, on Monday sentenced him to undergo “Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) for Ten (10) years with fine of Rs. 40,000/- (Rupees Forty Thousand) only.
Further n default of fine, he shall be sentenced for further simple imprisonment of six (6) months for committing the offence of rape or aggravated penetrative sexual assault to minor victim girl”.
