Justice served to 24 years old girl who was raped 15 years ago

The damage done to her 15 years ago is irreversible but justice was finally served to 24 years old girl on Thursday when the District & Session’s Court West Jaintia Hills District sentenced a man who raped her when she was nine years old girl to 15 years rigorous imprisonment.

According to police, on 06.11.2007 an FIR was received that on 20.09.2007, Donbor Syngkli raped a minor girl aged 9 (nine) years old and a case was registered vide Jowai PS Case No.137 (11) 2007 U/S 376/506 IPC. The case endorsed to WPSI O Tyngkan for investigation. After investigation the I.O of the case charge sheeted the accused under section 376/506 IPC.

The District Session’s Court, West Jaintia Hills, Jowai on appreciation of evidences; found the accused Donbor Syngkli guilty of charges.

The Court convicted him to 15 (fifteen) years rigorous imprisonment with fine of amount Rs.50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand) only for an offence punishable U/S 376 (2) (a) (f) IPC and 5 (five) years imprisonment for an offence punishable U/S 506 (Part II) IPC and that both sentences U/S 376 (2) (a) (f) IPC and U/S 506 (Part II) IPC to run concurrently.
