Kamrup Metropolitan hosts ‘Eat Right Mela and Walkathon’ to promote a healthy lifestyle
The Kamrup Metropolitan District Food Safety Administration, in collaboration with the District Administration, organized a two-day Eat Right Mela and Walkathon today at Rang Ghar Bakori, Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra. The event aimed to educate the public about safe, nutritious, and fortified food choices while highlighting essential government nutrition initiatives.
The event featured a diverse range of activities, including an open quiz session and a drawing and cooking competition, both of which allowed participants to showcase their creativity while promoting healthy eating habits. Local food stalls offered a variety of food items with a strong emphasis on health-conscious choices, further reflecting the event’s goal to inspire healthier lifestyles.
In addition, a session dedicated to licenses and registrations for organizing such Melas was held, providing valuable insights on how to effectively plan and execute these vital community events.
The event was graced by several prominent dignitaries, including Dispur Co-District Commissioner Monjit Borkakoti; Chief Medical & Health Officer (CM&HO) Dr. Apurba Krishna Sarma; Joint Director, FSSAI, Dr. Jesto George; Food Analyst, State Public Health Laboratory, Anupam Gogoi; and Samiran Baruah, Retired Designated Officer, Food Safety Assam. Their presence highlighted the importance of food safety and nutritional awareness in the community.
