Karate, Taekwondo, Wushu: East Khasi Hills dominates at the 6th Meghalaya Games
The 6th Meghalaya Games 2025, held on January 24, showcased the incredible skill, discipline, and determination of athletes in various Martial Arts events.
Taekwondo: The Taekwondo Senior Girls U-49kg category, held on January 24, brought together fierce competitors from across Meghalaya. The event delivered a thrilling display of martial arts excellence.
Claiming the coveted gold medal was Lastymani T. Sangma from West Garo Hills District. The Silver medal went to Nisha Thakuri from East Garo Hills District. Bronze medals were awarded to Rakita Thakuri from East Khasi Hills District and Changme Nomin from Ri Bhoi District.
In the Men’s -58 kg category, Ri-Bhoi’s Odicus Lyngdoh clinched the Gold Medal. WJH’s Salonbhami Suchiang claimed the silver medal.
In the Men’s -54 kg category, Ri-Bhoi had to settle for Bronze. WGH’s Jebiom Evanky R. Marak clinched the gold medal, and Ajay Kumar Ray from EKH won the Silver.
Karate: The 6th Meghalaya Games 2025 witnessed an action-packed Day 3 of Karate competitions. Athletes from various districts displayed remarkable talent, discipline, and sportsmanship in their quest for glory.
In the Men’s Kumite -68kg category, Daniel Dabiangbha Wajri from East Khasi Hills District clinched the gold medal with an exceptional performance. Evannedon Rynghang from Ri Bhoi District secured the silver medal. Bronze medals were awarded to Kynpham Kharkongor from East Khasi Hills District and Christibirt RSG Momin from West Garo Hills District.
The Men’s Kumite +68kg category saw Ialamphang Kharkongor from East Khasi Hills District emerge as the gold medalist. Nowni Mayer F. Ryngkhlhem from West Jaintia Hills District won the silver medal. Abhradeep Aguan and Jeremaiah Kharshandi, both from East Khasi Hills District, earned bronze medals.
In the Women’s Kumite -64kg division, Barisha Kharbani from East Khasi Hills District triumphed with a gold medal. Stephany Makdoh from Ri Bhoi District won the Silver. Sonali D. Sangma from East Khasi Hills District and Lasabai Lakiang from West Jaintia Hills District claimed bronze medals.
The Women’s Kumite +64kg category was dominated by athletes from West Jaintia Hills District. Durka Padit secured the gold medal, while Seraphina Mary Biam claimed the Silver. Shildahun Kharumnuid from Ri Bhoi District and Suhakani Dkhar from West Jaintia Hills District shared bronze medals.
Wushu: Athletes from across the state competed in various categories of Wushu Taulo, bringing pride to their districts and showcasing the immense talent in Meghalaya.
In the Men’s Changquan category, Ewansame Gashnga from East Khasi Hills District secured the gold medal with a commanding performance. The Women’s Changquan category saw Esperanza Songthiang from East Khasi Hills District clinching the gold medal. Balakenshew Lyngdoh and Becareful Ingti, both from Ri Bhoi District, won silver and bronze medals, respectively, adding to the district’s impressive tally.
Kyrshanbor R. Songthiang from East Khasi Hills District emerged victorious in the Men’s Nanquan category, winning Gold and cementing his place as a top performer in the Games.
In the Men’s Traditional category, Kyrshanbor R. Songthiang continued his winning streak by bagging another gold medal. Riwordmiki Lyngdoh from West Jaintia Hills District earned the Silver, while Sunshine Ronghang from Ri Bhoi District secured the bronze medal.
