Kenyan athletes gear up for 2nd Sohra Half Marathon with early arrival
The stage is set for the 2nd Sohra International Half Marathon and anticipation is building as two seasoned international runners from Kenya have arrived early to prepare for the event.
The event will be held on September 30.
Elijah Kipruto Kemei, 35, boasts an impressive running career with a best time of 1 hour and 5 minutes for the half marathon distance He has participated in notable marathons like the 2018 Mumbai Marathon, the 2019 China Marathon, the 2022 Sohra International Half Marathon, the 2023 Udaipur Marathon and the 2023 Gujarat Marathon.
Agnes Mueni Mutua, 36, is no stranger to the international running scene, achieving a personal best time of 1 hour and 14 minutes for the 21-kilometer distance. She has previously competed in the Tanzania Marathon in 2022 and the Rwanda Marathon in 2023. Her participation in the 2nd Sohra International Half Marathon marks her exciting debut on the Indian running circuit.
Both athletes made their way to the MSOA (Meghalaya State Olympic Association) office on the evening of September 22. Their faces were lit up with excitement as they met with Finely L. Pariat Organising Secretary and John F. Kharshiing Co-Chairman of the 2nd Sohra International Half Marathon 2023.
Their enthusiasm for being in Meghalaya, India, was palpable and they explained that they had arrived early to acclimatize themselves to the local climate and terrain, ensuring they are well-prepared for the upcoming race.
