Keshab Mahanta removed from health portfolio, entrusted to transport, excise and fisheries
In a minor reshuffle, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will take over the health and family welfare department from Keshab Mahanta.
The reshuffle was affected following the elevation of state minister Parimal Suklabaidya to the Lok Sabha.
Mahanta, who previously handled the health portfolio, has now been entrusted with additional responsibilities.
He will oversee the transport, excise and fisheries departments. These departments were earlier under the purview of Parimal Suklabaidya, who recently assumed his new role as a Member of Parliament (MP).
Now the chief minister will hold the portfolios of home, personnel, public works department, health & family welfare, medical education & research, indigenous & tribal faith and culture apart from directorates of library & museum and directorate of archaeology) and any other department not allotted to any other minister.
Meanwhile, the resignation of Parimal Suklabaidya was also accepted by Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, an official release here said.
