KHADC chief tables a Rs 55,080 deficit budget for 2023-24
Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Chief Executive Member, Pynïaid Sing Syiem on Saturday presented a Rs 55,080 deficit budget for the year 2023-2024.
In his budget speech, Syiem, who is also in-charge of finance, informed that the total expenditures have been estimated at Rs 253,12,59,690 which is higher than the total receipts estimated at Rs 253, 12, 04,610.
Taking into account the total expenditures and total receipts, the CEM presented the budget estimates for the year 2023-2024 with a fiscal deficit of Rs 55,080. He also highlighted some of the revenue generating departments of the Council and revenue received by the Council from different sources.
The revenue generated by the departments includes land revenue, forest, markets, trade, besides taxes on motor vehicles, taxes on professions, royalty on major and minor minerals and others.
The CEM also highlighted some of the expenditures that the council would incur during the current fiscal year such as law department, land survey, mines and minerals,
water resources, forest and education and others.
The CEM in his speech assured the House that the Executive Committee would not rest but find out ways and means to improve the revenue generation and collection of the Council and improve the functioning of the Council as well as see that the expenditures are judiciously spent in a transparent manner.
