KHADC not to issue NOC for construction of railway line in Ri Bhoi

The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has rejected the request of the state’s transport department for issuing a No-objection certificate (NOC) for the construction of the railway line in Ri Bhoi district.

“We have unanimously decided not to issue any NOC for construction of the railway line in Ri Bhoi district,” KHADC chief Titosstar Chyne told reporters after chairing a meeting of the executive committee on Thursday.

He informed that EC has recently received a letter from the transport department submitted through the Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi requesting the Council to issue an NOC for acquisition of land for the construction of a railway line in Byrnihat.
