KHADC shuts down company for operating without trade license
SHILLONG: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on Friday decided to shut down the office of the Techno Electric and Engineering Co.Ltd after it was found to be operating without any trading license.
The company is the implementing agency of the GIS Substation Package MEG-SS02 for Meghalaya associated with NER Power System Improvement Project at Mawphlang village.
The enforcement wing of the KHADC led by its superintendent Albert Lanong also found that most of the employees of the company do not have labour license, which is mandatory as per law. Over 33 workers are from outside the state while there are only 11 local employees.
The checking was also conducted in presence of the Mawphlang Labour Union.
“The company was operating in the area since 2017 and has not pay heed to the demand that it should obtain the trade license as well as labour license,” MLU general secretary Rickson Nongseij told reporters here.
He said the union accordingly decided to complaint against the company to the KHADC authority, which immediately had taken action without any delay.
