KHADC shuts down food delivery company in Shillong
SHILLONG: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) today closed down a Bangalore-based food delivery company ‘Swiggy’ for operating without obtaining trade license from the Council.
The decision was taken after a surprise checking was conducted by the enforcement wing of the Council here on Monday.
Enforcement assistant superintendent H Syiemlieh told reporters that after receiving complaints, a checking was conducted where it was found that the Swiggy company located at Dhankheti have been operating without any trade license.
“Therefore, we have decided to close down its office,” Syiemlieh said while informing that the Council will further intensify checking against such illegal business establishments in the coming days.
Later, KHADC EM incharge Trade Paul Lyngdoh said it was after proper verification that the action was taken against the company.
According to him, such company should know the law of the land and they cannot give excuse that they are not aware.

Firstly, get your facts right. Swiggy is a Bangalore based food delivery startup not Hyderabad.
