KHNAM asks Govt to allow book shops to open
The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has requested the state government to allow opening of bookstalls.
“We urge the government to allow books shops to open during the exams periods or at least mark Book shops which are in close proximity to open alternately,” KHNAM youth wing president Thomas Passah said in a statement issued on Monday.
The restriction for non essential shops has started today as per the notification of the Government while fighting the growing covid cases in a state and to prevent further spread.
“It is somehow shocking that the book stalls all around the cities are asked to close down whereas other shops that are not so essential as per the public are allowed to operate. The students are going through exams and they would need these shops for their preparations,” he said
According to him, in the revised consolidated guidelines issued on April 19, the Government of India had permitted opening of shops selling textbooks. Other states also have allowed book stalls to open to remove the hardship of the students, he stated.
