Kiang Nangbah Government College wraps up successful five day faculty development program on entrepreneurship
The Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) and Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell), Kiang Nangbah Government College, Jowai, successfully wrapped up a five-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Entrepreneurship Development on February 23, 2024. This program was conducted under the project “Establish, Develop, and Manage Entrepreneurship Development Centre and Incubation Centre in the Educational Institute of North Eastern Region,” sponsored by the North Eastern Council (NEC), Shillong, Government of India and the implemented nodal agency Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati.
Dr. Blessing Roy Suchiang, an Assistant Professor at the college and the Program Coordinator, who also serves as the Project Incharge of EDC and the Member Secretary of the E-Cell, emphasized that the program aimed to cultivate an entrepreneurial spirit among faculty members of various colleges from the East & West Jaintia Hills Districts of Meghalaya. It focused on equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to foster entrepreneurship among students.
Held from February 19 to February 23, 2024, the program witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members across various departments of colleges in the two districts. It featured a diverse range of sessions and interactive discussions conducted by experts and practitioners in the field of entrepreneurship.
The FDP provided participants with insights into various entrepreneurship topics, including developing business models, ideation through design thinking, legal and regulatory aspects of business startup, government funding opportunities through MSME & DCIC schemes, marketing, branding, market analysis, and the scope of emerging entrepreneurship in the region. Participants gained practical knowledge and tactics to effectively mentor and encourage aspiring entrepreneurs through case studies and hands-on activities.
Key highlights of the program included keynote addresses by renowned entrepreneurs, panel discussions on new trends, opportunities, and gaps in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and networking sessions to facilitate collaboration and idea exchange among participants.
Dr. Easter Meena Blah, Principal of Kiang Nangbah Government College, expressed her appreciation for the overwhelming response and active participation of faculty members in the program. She underscored the importance of entrepreneurship education in empowering students to become job creators and change-makers in society.
The successful conclusion of the FDP reaffirms Kiang Nangbah Government College’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship and fostering a culture of innovation and enterprise among its faculty members and students.
