KJCLF to hold special prayer meet against govt’s move to set up casinos
The Khasi Jaintia Church Leaders Forum (KJCLF) will be holding a special prayer meet “praying together for good…” on October 7, to highlight the gravity of the issue related to the government’s move to set up casinos in the state.
Informing this on Wednesday, KJCLF secretary Rev Edwin H Kharkongor said the special prayer meet will be held at the KJP English Service Church, Police Bazar, Shillong.
He said the KJCLF noted the lukewarm attitude of the Government authorities to the closure of the Casino gambling industry and the repeal of the Meghalaya Regulation of Gaming Act 2021.
While anticipating the evils and the social costs which will result from these nefarious activities, Rev Kharkongor said the Forum calls on leaders of different churches, organisations and institutions to support this movement for the closure of the casino gambling industry in the State.
