KJPA issues directive to allow burial of COVID-19 victims
The Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Assembly has asked all its churches across the region to allow burial of COVID-19 victims in their respective cemeteries.
This came a day after there was strong opposition from people in two places against the decision for burial/cremation of the first COVID-19 victim in the state due to fear that the virus would spread in their area.
KJPA senior administrative secretary Rev P Hynniewta in a statement issued here on Thursday said, “The respective churches should provide necessary space for burial in case there are believers who died due to coronavirus as according to doctors and other authorities, there is no threat (of virus spreading) at all.”
He also appeal to all the churches under KJPA to strictly follow the directive to ensure that people are not subjected to any problem.
