Knerlang and Rosy win National Unity Day marathon
To mark National Unity Day, the District Sports Officer’s office in East Jaintia Hills, in collaboration with the District Administration, organized an open marathon for local residents. The event followed a route from the Old Deputy Commissioner’s Office to Rymbai PHC and back.
The marathon was flagged off by Coming One Joy Tlang, General Secretary of the East Jaintia Hills District Sports Association, alongside District Sports Officer Stephanie M. Rapsang and other officials.
The 8.5 km run attracted over 105 enthusiastic participants, with a strong turnout from the youth in both male and female categories.
In the male category, Knerlang Phawa emerged victorious, followed by Bismo Sumer in second place and Rishanmehi Ryngkhlem in third. In the female category, Rosy Sana claimed the top spot, with Wasaki Phawa and Phyrnai Kyndait finishing second and third, respectively.
Winners were awarded cash prizes: Rs. 5,000 for first place, Rs. 3,000 for second, and Rs. 2,000 for third.
