The Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) at Kiang Nangbah Government College (KNGC), Jowai, recently concluded its one-week Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) for Batch 1, held from October 21 to October 25, 2024. This initiative aimed to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the essential skills and knowledge needed to create effective business plans and launch and manage successful ventures.
The programme trained 10 participants, including students and local entrepreneurs selected from the Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme (EAP) based on their innovative business ideas. These participants hailed from across East Jaintia Hills and West Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya.
The week-long training included interactive sessions, exposure trips, and hands-on activities to develop entrepreneurial skills and a comprehensive understanding of business development.
In collaboration with local businesses, EDC organized field visits, allowing participants to observe successful enterprises and the innovative strategies they employ. The key sessions, conducted by experts and seasoned entrepreneurs, covered topics such as Enterprise Development, Financial Literacy for Entrepreneurs, Business Planning, Market Research, Human Resource Management, Digital Marketing, Branding, Social Media and Mobile Commerce, and Government Schemes and Support.
Participants had the unique opportunity to engage with industry experts, experienced entrepreneurs, and mentors who shared valuable insights and personal experiences, inspiring and motivating them. The programme also featured individual business plan presentations and Q&A sessions, allowing participants to refine their business plans and pitching skills, gain feedback, and discuss real-world challenges.
Dr. Blessing Roy Suchiang, Programme Coordinator at EDC, KNGC, remarked, “We are committed to nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit among young minds. Through this programme, we hope to inspire participants to take bold steps toward achieving their business dreams and contributing positively to the local economy.”
