Kohli says no Congress MLA has approach to join BJP
SHILLONG: BJP national spokesperson and in-charge of Meghalaya Nalin Kohli on Saturday said no Congress MLA have approached him to join the party.
“I am saying it clearly not one Congress MLA has got in touch with me…no one has come and met me or spoken to me,” Kohli told reporters here while reacting to reports about eight Congress MLAs are ready to join the party in the state.
“I have also been reading about it in the media and it is possible that there may be people who are expressing their desire to join the BJP but they still haven’t got in touch with us,” he said.
Kohli said as far as the BJP is concerned its doors are open for anyone who keeps the national resolve of development and strengthening the positive agenda of the party.
BJP MLA and cabinet minister AL Hek however said the eight Congress MLAs are in touch with the state party leadership.
“We have been discussing but they don’t have the number now to join any political party but if they get the number, they are definitely going to join the BJP,” he said.
Kohli however said it is possible that the Congress MLAs are discussing with the state leaders of the party adding “As with me, we discuss the final thing.”
Asked, the BJP national leader said if the party has the numbers, certainly it would want to form the government in Meghalaya.
