KSU apprehended 7 persons in South West Khasi Hills
Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) South West Khasi Hills District has apprehended 7 persons including three Assam-based vegetable vendors at Ranikor and Mawpon.
KSU-SWKH president Forwardman Nongrem in a statement issued on Friday informed that three identified as Gopal Nath, Bisnu Das and Akash Thapa were apprehended by the members of the union at Ranikor on Thursday while they were on their way to Nongjri for selling vegetables.
“They were found to have no documents to prove that they are free from COVID-19. We expressed surprise that how can the deputy commissioner and district authorities allow people from outside to freely enter the district as this will pose danger to the local people,” Nongrem said.
He informed that another 4 non-indigenous people from Chennai and Assam were also apprehended at Mawpon, which is only 1 km away from DC’s office. According to him, these people had come to the district for electrical works.
Nongrem has further accused the district administration of failing to restrict entry of outsiders into the district.
