KSU demands arrest of all involved in assaulting local couple at Nongmensong
The Nongmensong Unit of the Khasi Students Union (KSU) on Thursday demanded the arrest of all those involved in assaulting a local couple.
The incident took place at Nongmensong on Wednesday evening when a group of miscreants assaulted a local man and his wife. An FIR has been lodged with the Nongmensong police outpost.
KSU-NU president C Khyriem said so far only two persons belonging to a non-indigenous community have been arrested in this connection.
“We therefore demanded the police to immediately arrest all those involved in assaulting the couple and punish them as per law, failing which the union will be compelled to take stern action,” he said.
Khyriem also demanded that the state government should evict “illegal settlers” at Nongmensong as they have been harassing the local people in the area.
