KSU denies sending letter to ministry over NEHU issue
The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) NEHU Unit on Tuesday categorically denied sending any letter to the Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Amit Khare.
“Till this moment, we have not sent any letter to him (Amit Khare),” KSU-NEHU Unit president Pynshai Dkhar said in a statement issued here.
He was reacting to media reports that the KSU-NEHU Unit had in its letter to Khare demanded the Centre to remove the incumbent NEHU vice chancellor Prof SK Srivastava.
Terming the allegation as false, Dkhar said that the KSU will find out those involved in attempting to tarnish its image.
On the other hand, the president of the Unit said that the union hopes that NEHU will again get a vice chancellor from the local indigenous people of the state after (L) Dr B Pakem.
“It is high time for the Centre to provide opportunity to local indigenous people of the state to take up the responsibility for the welfare and upliftment of the University,” he said.
According to him, there are many local indigenous people who are eligible for the post.

Everytime this happens, hopefully this type of harrasment and all will be over soon.. Even few weeks back I got harraased by members of KSU for no reason they just tortured me and my friends cus we are Non Tribals and we went to one place to buy meat and vegetables which they didn’t liked I mean our presence so they told us if they see us next time they don’t know what gonna happen to us.. Because they are not scared of The law or any military forces.. They simply said they hate Dkhars which is sad. So much of hate towards non tribals. Two of them were so drunk. One pushed me and my friend around 20 to 25 guys surrounded us.
