KSU detects over 380 illegal migrant workers at Umsawli
The Khasi Students Union (KSU) has detected over 380 illegal migrant workers at the IIM, Umsawli in the New Shillong Township.
“We have found that over 380 which include migrant workers and their families, working at the IIM, are without legal documents,” KSU Shillong Mihngi Circle president Sonstar Nongkhlaw said in a statement.
He said the union does not want New Shillong Township to become a colony of illegal settlers.
Nongkhlaw said that the union will continue to intensify checking against illegal settlers in the region.
“This will continue till the time the government is ready to implement the ILP and the MRSSA,” he said.
