KSU extends full support to Mizo people over clash incident
The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) expressed its solidarity with the Mizo people, who are suffering due to the recent clashes along the border of Mizoram-Assam.
“The KSU extends its full support to the Mizo people and especially the Mizo Zirlai Pawl, who are associates in the North East Students’ Organization,” KSU general secretary, Donald V Thabah said in a letter to MZP president, Pu VL Tana on Monday.
He said the KSU hopes that no matter what it takes, Mizos will defend their territory tooth and nail so as to protect their land and borders for the overall well being of their people.
Thabah also assured that the KSU will always stands with their indigenous brethens who are bearing the brunt of illegal immigration like the Mizos, Assamese, Garos, Karbis, Bodos and Tripuris.
As per the media reports, illegal immigrants mostly Bengalis came in droves armed with machetes, logs, iron rods, etc from Assam, crossed over to Mizoram side and started assaulting Mizo villagers without any provocation.
“Such is the mentality of the illegal immigrants that their objective is to forcibly snatch away tribal lands in Mizoram and other NE states including Meghalaya,” the KSU leader said.
In Meghalaya, he said the movement against influx has been going on for 4 decades since the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971 which brought a huge number of refugees and opportunist migrants into the state rendering the indigenous Khasi as minorities in Shillong city. This led to a series of agitations whereby countless lost their precious lives.

First of all i am from Bangladesh, i hear most of the time our bangladeshi people are suffering there at mehgalaya getting beaten, threaten and loosing there life instead sending them with law and order and in peaceful manner they assault them all the time but here in Bangladesh we never do such things here we have many Khasi tribe living and have their own village and area with special tribal status so why they do like this to our people? It’s a big concern cus it’s too much i guess mistreATING OUR PEOPLE like they are rodents. What if we do the same here too in bangladesh?
