KSU leader arrested for assaulting cops inside a police station
SHILLONG: Absconded Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) leader Ferdynald Kharkamni on Monday was arrested for assaulting a police officer and a head constable inside the Umiam police station last month.
Assistant Inspector General of Police (A) GK Iangrai said after strenuous efforts of Ri Bhoi police, Kharkamni – who is the president of KSU Ri Bhoi – was arrested from Nongpoh.
“The accused is currently under the custody of police and investigation of the case is still ensuing,” Iangrai said in a statement issued here.
According to him, two cases have been registered against the KSU leader in Umiam police station.
