KSU seeks intervention of district admin over harassment against teachers in schools along Indo-Bangla border
The Khasi Students Union (KSU) on Tuesday sought the intervention of the South West Khasi Hills district administration into the alleged harassment against teachers belonging to Khasi community and who are working in schools located along the international border with Bangladesh.
In a letter to the Deputy Commissioner, KSU-South West Khasi Hills president Forwardman Nongrem informed that there have been teachers who have come back home due to fear after some sort of notices were allegedly issued by the GSU and AKHAF.
He said such notices are trying to bulldoze the rights of such teachers. “As a union, we have also met them and they have expressed that they feel insecure while discharging their daily duties in the schools due to such incidents,” he added.
Nongrem said that the Union has decided to submit a complaint requesting the district administration to take immediate steps to ensure unnecessary communal tension is prevented.
