Kyrmen Foundation & Star Cement provides food to stranded commuters in NH-06
Coming to the rescue of the thousands commuters stranded in NH-06 along East Jaintia Hills District, the members of the Kyrmen Foundation and Star Cement braves the inclement downpours for providing food and other essentials to the all stranded commuters.
The prohibition Order for movement on NH06 for all vehicles and pedestrians on the damaged road at Lumshnong will continue in view the safety of the commuters.
Light Motor Vehicles (less than 3 tons) are allowed to ply via the alternate route of Brichyrnot-Lumshnong (Star Cement) road. However it may be noted that the said alternate road is not in very good condition. Commuters are cautioned to travel through the said road only if absolutely necessary.
Vehicles carrying essential commodities to other states through the National Highway 06 will have to exchange the goods to LMVs and the exact time will be made know at a later stage by the district administration.
Meanwhile a ground level review of the situation was undertaken on Thursday led by Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui and accompanied by Shitlang Pale local MLA, Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal, IAS, and Superintendent of Police East Jaintia Hills District Jagpal Singh Dhanoa, IPS.
The Government is committed to restore normalcy at the earliest.
