Ladrymbai declared as containment area
The District Magistrate, East Jaintia Hills District FM Dopth on Saturday has declared entire area of Ladrymbai as containment area in view of the detection of COVID-19 positive cases in Ladrymbai.
District Magistrate in his order stated that the Health & Family Welfare Department, East Jaintia Hills District, has reported that there is a new COVID-19 positive case at Lad Rymbai area who is a vegetable vendor and is likely to have been in contact with many other people of the area.
The Joint committee of the four localities of Lad Rymbai or Lad Rymbai Pyllun has requested the District Administration to Lockdown the Lad Rymbai area for a certain period to enable all the localities to clean the market area, to sanitize the area in view of the evolving nature of COVID-19 cases to contain transmission or arrest the spike in positive cases of COVID-19.
“The detection of positive COVID-19 cases in Lad Rymbai area with recent travel history from other parts of the District, other Districts of State, vulnerable and affected areas require aggressive contact tracing, quarantine, testing and isolation as well as containment in the interest of health of general public against any possible spread of COVID-19,” the order said.
Therefore, in pursuance to order of the Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, the District Magistrate has declared the entire area of Lad Rymbai Pyllun namely Lad Rymbai- B, Lad Rymbai Datsimpein, Lad Rymbai Dongwah, Lad Rymbai Khliehdupon as a containment areas so as to restrict unregulated entry and exit movement on site with the following measures for due compliance by the public with effect from Mid Night of the 3rd of August, 2020 to 6:00 AM of the 7th of August, 2020 in the interest and safety of public, to complete contact tracing of high risk contacts and low risk contacts as well as to contain any transmission of COVID-19.
No person/public will be allowed to move into the containment area and inhabitants within the containment area should not move out, all inhabitants within the containment area shall strictly remain inside their homes. No gathering, events, functions, whatsoever of any nature and firms will be allowed and no social, political, religious or economic activities are allowed.
Additionally, all shopping establishments of whatsoever nature shall be closed and ensured for compliance through various teams formed by the District Administration. All Private Institutions including financial institutions located within the boundary of the containment area are closed forthwith, till further orders.
The District Magistrate also informed that the Block Development Officer, Khliehriat Block/ Incident Commander of (Executive Magistrate i/c Khliehriat PHC) will be the Supervising Officer of the Containment areas under the supervision of the Addl. Deputy Commissioners East Jaintia Hills District.
However, exemption is granted for the Office of the Police Station Lad Rymbai, MePDCL, PHE Office, National Highway -6 for essential services, Emergency services, District Contact Teams to commute by commuters, Medical Officers and Medical Front Line Workers on duty.
The District Magistrate also stated that any violations of this order shall entail prosecution under the penal provision of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and relevant provisions of the IPC.
This order shall come with immediate effect from the 1st of August, 2020 until further orders.
