Lady drug supplier & her two peddlers arrested in East Jaintia Hills

Two passengers of an interstate Night Super Bus were arrested in East Jaintia Hills District for transportation of heroin to Shillong city on Wednesday morning.

Police said at around 10:30 pm of Tuesday they were tipoff that one drug supplier identified as Maya Gwala alias Pushki had sent 2(two) drugs peddlers namely Pasar Uddin @ aka Samir from Emersoan Ghat, Polo, Shillong and Dipak Baidya from Polo, near Tenjing Restaurant Shillong to ferry illegal contraband from Silchar to Shillong in a tourist Bus Bearing registration No. AS01-FC-8199. Police informed at around 1.30 am of Wednesday the night super bus was detected and detained at Umtyra.

In the presence of independent witnesses, search of the vehicle was conducted and on the leading of the suspects one black backpack was recovered where nine soap boxes with yellowish powder were found.

During the test of yellowish powder and it was confirmed to be Heroin and the net weight was found to be 100.56 grams.

Further, in the course of investigation, a team of East Jaintia Hills Police proceeded to Shillong and Pushki was apprehended at her residence at Polo, Shillong with the help of staff of Pasteur Beat House & ANTF East Khasi Hills and was brought to Khliehriat to be arrested in connection with the instant case.

Police said Khliehriat PS Case No. 37(5)2023 U/s 21(b)/29 NDPS Act has been registered and investigation of the case is in progress to trace the backward linkages.
