Lambor Malngiang lays foundation stone for road works in Smit village
Chairman, Meghalaya State Planning Board and MLA/MDC of Nongkrem Constituency, Lambor Malngiang on Monday laid the foundation stone for the improvement of an internal road at Smit village.
Funded under RIDF XXVI for the year 2020-2021, an amount Rs. 3.30 crore has been earmarked for the improvement of the internal road totalling 5.43 km in length.
The function was held at the Lemthaw Dorbar Hall, Smit in the presence of Dr. Balajied Sing Syiem, Syiem Hima Khyrim Syiemship who graced the function as the Guest of Honour, senior officers of PWD (Roads), Rangbah Shongs and representatives of the Dorbar Smit Pyllun and Seng Kynthei.
Addressing the gathering, Lambor Malngiang informed that despite the hardships caused by the pandemic, his efforts have always persisted to bring about developmental schemes in the constituency. Terming the occasion as “eventful”. Malngiang further informed that the tendering process for the project has been completed and work will commence within a month’s time. Adding that once completed, not only will commuting be made easier for people but the overall look of the area will also be greatly enhanced.
He also informed that around 13500 households in the constituency have been given aid during the pandemic.
Dr. Balajied Sing Syiem in his address lauded the various initiatives spearheaded by the local MLA/MDC in the constituency and opined that the good works done will go a long way in bringing about all round development not only in the constituency but in the State as a whole.
