Landslides in West Garo Hills claim three lives, including a child
Three persons including a minor child were killed while another three were injured in various incidents of landslides that struck West Garo Hills District on Friday.
According to the official report, the three deceased are Santa N Marak, 57, from Koinabui, West Garo Hills, five-year-old Miardo P. Marak from Sorokpara, West Garo Hills and Sarika M. Marak, 18, from Kharongngre, West Garo Hills.
Three persons namely Moralistic N Marak, 28, from Koinabui, West Garo Hills, was injured in a landslide and is currently being treated at Dalu CHC. Another person identified as Parcella A. Sangma from Northern Hawkhana, West Garo Hills, sustained a fractured leg and has been shifted to the Civil Hospital while Fredrick A. Sangma from Northern Hawkhana also sustained injuries and was shifted to the Civil Hospital.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has extended his condolences to the bereaved families. The region remains on high alert, and the Chief Minister is reviewing the situation with the administration, urging residents to stay safe.
