Lathuthiñ Festival 2024: Celebrating Jaintia culture and environmental conservation
The East Jaintia Hills Tourism Environment Promotion Society (EJHTEPS) proudly announces the Lathuthiñ Festival 2024, set for October 18-19, 2024, at Tuber Shohshrieh. The festival will showcase the unique and vibrant Jaintia culture while promoting environmental conservation.
The festival highlights include the Miss Lathuthiñ Beauty Contest, where participants will compete for cash prizes of Rs. 50,000 for the winner, Rs. 25,000 for the runner-up, and Rs. 15,000 for the third runner-up.
Another significant event is the Plastic Bottle Collection Drive, where participants can earn cash prizes by collecting plastic bottles, with Rs. 20,000 awarded for collecting 350 or more bottles, Rs. 15,000 for 250-349 bottles, and Rs. 7,000 for 150-249 bottles.
Attendees can also look forward to cultural performances. Renowned artists including Bahun Marwein, Deiwitawan Synnah, Empirical Tribe, Monmi777 & Johny, DJ Deibormi, and DJ Zethan will entertain the crowd.
EJHTEPS General Secretary, M Phawa, stated, “The Lathuthiñ Festival aims to promote Jaintia culture and protect the environment in East Jaintia Hills. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating our rich heritage while contributing to a sustainable future.”
