Lawyer lambasted Meghalaya Govt for bad roads
Leading advocate of East Jaintia Hills District Kerlang Ksoo castigated the Meghalaya Govt for bad condition of the roads from Khliehriat East junction to Rymbai PHC, Rymbai village.
In letter to the Executive Engineer (PWD) Roads, East Jaintia Hills District, Ksoo informed that condition of the roads leading to the premises of the District Court, East Jaintia Hills District from Khliehriat East junction till Rymbai PHC, Rymbai village measuring a distance of about 4.5 Kms is in a bad and pathetic condition.
It is surprise to notice that even though the District Court premises, DC’s, ADC’s and EAC’s official quarters besides other important district departments offices are situated along the said roads but the PWD (Roads) remained indifferent.
The PWD is less bother and concern to see that the said roads in its present condition requires immediate renovation/repairing in order to see that the public and government officers gets to use the roads in the best way for transportation/ travelling purposes.
Ksoo asserted non-maintenance of roads by the concerned government department is a matter of genuine public grievances and interest and to have a good and pothole free road is also a fundamental right of a citizen which is included in Article 21 of the Indian Constitution.
The deplorable and dilapidated condition of the said road for the past several months has caused extreme hardships to the common citizen in commuting through the said road.
As a concerned citizen of the district and a frequent commuter on the said road, Ksoo urged the Engineer to kindly discharge his duties honestly by repairing the said road immediately and ensure that the quality of materials to be use for repair and maintenance are of good and standard quality so that the said road can sustain for a longer period of times.
