Legal awareness program held at Songsak

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), East Garo Hills, with its motto “Access to Justice for All” organized a one-day Legal Awareness Program at the office premises of Songsak C&RD Block on 24 February, 2021 where a large number of villagers, the Nokmas and Sardars, officials from the line departments, etc. participated.

During the program, the District and Sessions Judge and the Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), M Skhemlon, talked at length about the District Legal Services Authority.

The resource person from the DLSA, BN Marak, Legal Aid Counsel, spoke at length about   the “Legal Services Authority Act, 1987”.

Songsak BDO, Diana G Sangma highlighted about the schemes being implemented by the block while the Protection Officer of the District Child Protection Unit, Mamuni K Marak, deliberated on Human Trafficking.

Later on the day, the District and Sessions Judge inaugurated the Legal Aid Clinic which will cater to the legal need of the people of the region.
