The people of Meghalaya will now be able to have live streaming of the court proceeding in the High Court of Meghalaya.
The live streaming is available on YouTube Channel and the link is available on the official website of the High Court of Meghalaya. However as the process is at its nascent stage there might be some initial glitches.
The High Court of Meghalaya is functioning in a hybrid mode where both physical and virtual modes are operating together for all the courts. Advocates/litigants are at liberty to attend court proceedings either physically in person or virtually through video conference.
The hybrid system has diluted the inability to access justice due to the distance, it saves time and diminishes the number of unwarranted adjournments sought on the ground that one cannot appear as one is attending court in another jurisdiction.
Further, pursuant to Meghalaya High Court (Live Streaming of Court Proceedings) Rule, 2022 notified on 17th October, 2022 with the objective of effectuating and broadening the implementation of the open court concept, the court proceedings of the Benches of the High Court has commenced live streaming from Wednesday.
Litigants and the general public do not have to waste their entire day to view how their matter is proceeding, but instead can view the court proceedings from the comfort of their offices and homes. Also, to the common man it will help give a better understanding of the functioning of the court.
