Local small time contractors are unemployed as contract works are monopolized: Mukul
Former Chief Executive Member of JHADC and Jowai Central MDC A Andrew Shullai formally joined the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) at Block Level Meeting organised in Jrisalein Field, Jowai on Saturday.
Addressing a large gathering of AITC supporters, Leader of Opposition, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Dr. Mukul Sangma said, “The building works of the B.Ed college in Jowai is yet to be commissioned. We promise, on behalf of Meghalaya TMC, that we will complete the commissioning in the very first month of taking charge of the government.”
The leader of the Opposition lambasted the ruling dispensation over the bungling state of governance.
He said, “I meet businessmen across the state who talk about losing opportunities. Even the local, small-time contractors are losing employment. The NPP-led MDA government only achieved a milestone of curbing the circulation of money in the hands of the people.”
Expressing confidence over the huge gathering of supporters, Meghalaya TMC MLA George B Lyngdoh said, “The people of Meghalaya lost hope with the ruling government, seeing that the state of affairs remain perilous. I came here to instill confidence about Meghalaya TMC’s vision to bring good governance to the state. As the election is around the corner, let us all pledge to support Andrew to see a new government that will stand with you throughout the tenure, not the government that fools you during elections.”
Affirming that a progressive change lies ahead, Shullai said, “I alone will not be able to do anything, but us together, me and you, through the support of TMC, we are determined and hopeful that we will bring a positive change which will start from our constituency Jowai and spread throughout the state as a whole.”
Meghalaya TMC State in Charge Manas R Bhunia, Meghalaya TMC Party President Charles Pyngrope, Former MDC and CEM of West Jaintia Hills Madonbai Rymbai, Meghalaya TMC leaders Lasting Suchiang, Nasar Pala, Dr. Saraline Dorphang and other prominent leaders were also present.
