LPG cylinder blast kills woman in Guwahati, multiple explosions intensify fire

A tragic LPG cylinder blast in a three-story building in Guwahati’s Basisthapur bylane No. 1 claimed the life of a woman on Monday. The victim, identified as Pranati Deka, was burnt alive in the incident, which triggered multiple explosions, engulfing the building in flames.
According to reports, several LPG cylinders exploded during the fire, intensifying the blaze and reducing household belongings to ashes. Firefighters rushed to the scene, battling the raging inferno to prevent it from spreading to nearby structures.
A source from the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) confirmed that Deka succumbed to severe burns. Despite the firefighters’ swift response, the fire had already caused extensive damage before being brought under control.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the initial explosion, while residents in the area have been urged to remain cautious about fire safety. The house where the tragedy struck belonged to another woman, but further details are yet to be disclosed.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the neighbourhood, highlighting the dangers of LPG mishandling and the need for stringent fire safety measures in residential buildings.
