Lt Gen PC Nair superannuates after four decades of service
Assam Rifles Director General Lt Gen PC Nair relinquished command of Assam Rifles and superannuated from military service in a poignant ceremony held at Delhi, where he laid the wreath at the National War Memorial and floral tributes at the National Police Memorial to pay homage to the Bravehearts.
This marks the culmination of an illustrious career spanning 38 years and 11 months, during which he served in Assam Rifles for eleven years. He has made indelible contributions to national defence and military excellence.
The General Officer assumed the command of Assam Rifles as DG Assam Rifles on June 1, 2021, leading the force through a period of significant achievements and challenges.
Gen Nair provided the force with astute and visionary leadership for three years and always strived to push Assam Rifles to excellence while providing a secure environment to the northeastern states.
General’s visionary MoUs with various institutions of India which were signed under his guidance, will ensure that Assam Rifles actively contributes and participates in the ‘Act East Policy of the government. The formations under his command set the highest standards of operational efficiency and professional conduct under challenging circumstances and ensured peace and tranquility along the borders with Myanmar and in the hinterland.
The tenure of Gen Nair coincided with the Manipur crises of last 15 months wherein Assam Rifles performed commendably by stabilising the situation and providing succour to the affected population.
The sit was brought under control despite the adverse propaganda launched by vested interests.
The welfare of the Veer Naris, Veterans and their dependents has always been a sacred commitment for Gen Nair. In addition to the numerous outreach initiatives, the institution of ‘Veterans Day’ on March 23 every year has accorded due recognition to the valiant and singular sacrifices of our veterans.
In his farewell address, Gen Nair reflected on his time in service, expressing pride in the accomplishments of his team and gratitude for the support received from his colleagues, superiors, and family.
Gen Nair extended his best wishes to Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, expressing confidence that the force would benefit immensely from Gen Lakhera’s extensive experience in the Northeast.
