Man from Assam arrested for raping a minor

SHILLONG: One Sahidur Islam was arrested by West Jaiñtia Hills District police from Assam for his involvement in allegedly raping a fifteen-year-old minor girl.

“The accused (Islam) was arrested after he was brought from his native home at Panbari Tritiated Khanda, District Kohkrajhar, Assam by district police team,” Superintendent of Police (SP) Lakador Syiem said here on Friday.

Syiem informed that the accused person has been forwarded to court with prayer for two days police custody.

The arrest was made after FIR was filed by the victim mother on February 13. The mother had informed that Islam had raped her daughter when she along with her sister went to search vegetables from Thlusniang jungle at Pasyih village. The accused after committing the crime also fled away.
