Man sentenced to 18 years imprisonment for raping a minor
The Court of the Special Judge (POCSO) has sentenced one Rajingstar Thabah to 18 years imprisonment for sexually assaulting a five-year-old minor in 2017.
“The Court of the Special Judge (POCSO) has found the accused Rajingstar Thabah guilty and convicted him to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for a period of 18 years and to pay fine of Rs 20,000, in default of fine, to undergo Simple Imprisonment for another 3 months for offence punishable under section 6 of POCSO Act,” East Khasi Hills SP Sylvester Nongtnger said in a statement issued on Friday.
On November 3, 2017, an FIR was lodged at Mawngap police station that one minor girl (5 years and 10 months) was sexually assaulted by Thabah.
A case was registered U/S 5(i)(m)/6 POCSO Act and was endorsed to WPSI/ Konila D. Sangma who after investigation, charge sheeted the case on January 25, 2018.
